After reviewing both sides of copyright law, I have decided that it is not in need of change. I understand that the law cannot protect everyone but there are enough restrictions and limitations to these laws. In “Intellectual Property Rights Do Not Need New Protections” by James Boyle, we see how he compels us to see that copyright is not in need of extra protection. Boyle argues that the new laws are meant to only unfairly limit the use of information. He states that in 1995 the Clinton administration gave a white paper on Intellectual Property. It is a truly radical measure because it seeks to make simply reading a document on the internet a violation. This would make it very hard for students and researchers to, well, read anything on the internet, because of the fear of repercussions. It also reduced the use of copyrighted material. Boyle states that “under current law, one copies a document simply by reading it on a computer screen.” It is appalling to think that simply having a paper load on to the computer screen can cause such harm to a simple person. Apparently this bill will help only those with lots of money. It will not help those that are creative beings or writers. It is in favor of the publishers. And lets not forget that ” Hollywood and the record industry contribute lots of money to the Democrats.” This law is not meant to help those little people who are true writers. Copyright law does not need any more protection. It seems to be protected enough.
In general, it is the same information except for the LII.org website. It has more scholarly materials than compared to other sites. Yahoo and Bing seem to be a general search site and I have to be really careful what I click and what I think is viable information.
When buying a car or looking for a recipe, I would do a general search on Yahoo! or Google.
When it comes to the subject of global dimming or any topics in Science, I would look at reputable websites such as lii.org or use a database.

I have never been too interested in keeping up with news especially since it does not effect me. Watching the news doesn’t currently help me with anything since I don’t invest, I don’t have family in weird parts of the world, I don’t care about politics (its all lies), and I certainly don’t care for all those weirdos in Hollywood.
The one thing that irks me the most is that there is no news site which is impartial and shares the news evenly. Its either left or right and there aren’t too many which lean to the right. I am straight forward and I expect the news to be sweet and to the point. If something happens in some remote part of the world, I really don’t care. Tell me what the weather will be like, how traffic is, and what is happening in the U.S. After all, that is where we live. And most of all, stop repeating the same thing over and over. I got it…we are in a “financial crisis.” Ohh no…Its happened before and it will happen again. I know you are thinking “boy, she’s inconsiderate” and I am, to a certain point.
I tend to use sites such as Yahoo! News because I can read the headline and see if it interests me. I dont spend a lot of time looking at the news since I know that I cant change anything. Politics will be politics. I don’t have the influence to change anything. The weather will change. I am not God to control it. The crazy’s in Hollywood will continue to harm our kids forever and we cant do anything about it except raise them properly.
When it comes to TV, I don’t watch a lot of it because I simply don’t have time to. I do prefer anything on HGTV and Food Network.
Those are my habits, in a nutshell.

The search tool I used in Part II was Yahoo because I prefer it. I am so tired of everyone saying “just google” it. I prefer to say, “Just Yahoo it.”
The evaluation criteria I used to choose the two websites in Part II was the author’s credentials and the audience and purpose.
The evaluation criteria which is important to me when using the internet depends of the scope of the search. When it is for something serious, I prefer to spend a lot of time on Yahoo searching for credible information from credible sources. When it is just for fun I tend to read from my usual websites.

Being born and raised in New York, my parents always expected me to go far in life. Their stories of the difficulties back home were meant to inspire me to take advantage of the opportunities here. But I didn’t. In part it was my laziness and lack of inspiration. I wish things in life were easy, but they aren’t. After taking a two year break from school, here I am at LaGuardia almost done with two years. But there are still two years ahead, at least. Working full time and going to school full time is not easy. Now try balancing that with a family and other responsibilities. Eeek!
I would rather take my time in school than not do it at all. I realize that the professors make all the difference in how well you do in class. Some don’t care whatsoever of your progress, others care too much, and others, well, just rock! Its amazing how little effort you have to put into a class if the professor knows how to teach. Online classes are truly the most convenient for someone such as I. The convenience can’t be beat. I can work at my own pace by printing the materials I need at work and then reading on the train. The next morning, I just log in and my work is done. Most of all, I don’t have to go to class. It saves money, time, and effort and with winter coming, warmth.
I currently work at Pfizer which is the largest pharmaceutical company in the world. I am sure you’ve heard about it recently as we have been slapped with a record setting lawsuit. We are just an easy target, but hey, that’s just life. After I finish at LaGuardia, I hope to transfer to Baruch, which reminds me, I’d better get to work on my application. My ultimate goal is to work in personal finance. Actually, anything in finance will do just fine. I don’t know where life will take me or what hardships I will encounter but I would like to know that I made the right decisions.
I am taking five classes this semester in an effort to finish. Whenever I tell someone that, they think I’m crazy. Honestly, my only motivation is that I will be able to take a break from school in the short session, which mind you, is going to be my only break from school in almost three years. That’s right, I have been to school every long and short session for the past two and a half years. Yikes!
…did I mention I need a vacation?
